Position: Postdoctoral researcher in the project ‘Chitosan nanoparticles functionalized with double-stranded RNA as a novel strategy for plant protection’ funded by the National Science Centre (NCN).
The project is already well advanced, with a detailed plan for several upcoming publications.
A doctoral dissertation from this project is currently being completed, the first articles have been published and more are in the pipeline.
The position is for 22 months, the remaining duration of the project.
The salary for this position is 10.000 PLN/month (employer gross) with the possibility of an increase based on performance.

Requirements:
- Ph.D. in biology or a closely related discipline obtained in Poland or EU countries within the past 7 years.
- Strong experimental experience in plant molecular biology, including analysis of RNA seq data.
- Good writing skills demonstrated by a record in peer-reviewed journals,
- The applicant must meet all formal requirements defined by the National Science Centre (NCN) for a postdoc position (https://www.ncn.gov.pl/aktualnosci/2018-11-09-stanowisko-rada-post-doc).
The project focusses on designing a novel plant protection system based on the combined biological properties of chitosan and dsRNA-activated RNAi processes.
This will include:
- Transcriptomic and phenotypic characterization of chitozan-modified interactions between barley and Fusarium,
- design and synthesis of dsRNA molecules targeting genes involved in pathogen virulence and plant resistance,
- Design and characterization of dsRNA-chitosan nanoparticle complexes targeting pathogen virulence and/or plant resistance.
